Making the World a better place

I am often asked the question- What can I do to make the world a better place?  One thing I feel we should do is not burn fossil fuels. I know this sounds crazy, but I feel we should walk everywhere instead of burning up gas in our cars.  That would make our lives so much easier. Pollution is another reason I should change the world.  Pollution is the second leading cause of endagerment of animals.  Animals are treaures to the world, and it's hard for the animlas to lose thier homes, when really pollution is 100% preventable.  Recently, we experinced the BP oil spill. This led to the endangerment of many aqautic animlas.   That makes us wonder why.  Another reason  I should make the world a better place is not to cut down so many trees. Every day, animals in the rainforest are losing thier homes, and we are using that for paper and other writing materials.  That is really sad. The last thing I want to address is recycling. I am guilty of this myself. I need to recycle more. So should the rest of the world.  If every household recycles, that would make a big difference. these are reasons I want to make the world a better place.

Austin Hopcia

I had the chance to  interview Austin Hopcia.  Austin was born on January 31st, 1996.  He is currently 15 years old.  Austin is a sophomore at Alden High School.  He has two younger sisters, Carly and Holly.  Austin is the cousin of  Richard Hopcia.  Austin has been on the JV football team, the JV basketball team, and the Varsity baseball team. Last year, Austin was a freshman on the JV baseball team. He moved up to the varsity team halfway through the season. As a freshman, that was pretty impressive.  Austin's  football and  basketball jersey number is #24. His jersey number is uncertain for the varsity baseball season.   Austin has hobbies other than sports. He likes to play Xbox and other video games. He also likes to hang out with friends and watch movies. Austin's favorite color is green.  Austin's favorite class is Online Publishing because he likes to write.  His favorite teachers are Mr. Currin and Mr. Cayea.  Austin's least favorite classes are Spanish and Earth Science because  they are hard.  Austin has Mrs. Bushway for Earth Science, which makes the class a whole lot harder.  For the holidays, Austin is going to South Carolina.   A fun fact is that Austin goes to the same chuch as me.  It was nice getting to know such a wonderful man like Austin Hopcia.

Things have changed

My holiday break is going to be so much different than when I talked about it two or three weeks ago. My grandparents are still coming. They are coming for much longer than I expected. My grandparents have decided to come for two days  instead of  one. That means I have to sleep on the floor for TWO nights instead of one. That really stinks.
My friend's plans for break have changed too.  The friends who are going skiing are still going. That's good news.  Some of my friends are staying here.  That will be good for me because I can still call and text them over break.  But something disturbing also happened. The two friends who were going to Las Vegas have suddely decided not to go. I don't know what the reason is,and I'm afraid to ask.  Because I'm just a kid, they think I wouldn't understand. Maybe it's better that way.
Since holiday break is approaching, I'm hoping to get these problems out of my head.  Once Christmas is over, 2012 will begin. It's going to be a new year. And a new year means the chance for a fresh start.

The 50's- The Golden Age

If I could travel back in time, I would travel to the 1950's.  The main reason is because life is different back then than it is now.  In the 1950's, there were no computers. Unlike many young people of the Internet  generation, I don't go on the computer much.  So this is a big impact to me.  I would also be around for some of the biggest movies in American history, such as Ben Hurr, Giant, Rebel Without a Cause, and the Disney classics Old Yeller,  and Swiss Family Robinson. Hollywood was much more secure unless I worked at MGM. My crushes in the 1950's would probably be Rock Hudson, James Dean, Sal Mineo,   Tyrone Power,  Peter Lawford, Bobby Driscoll, and James MacArthur.  The 1950's was also the birth of rock' and roll. When it comes to music, I would listen to Eddie Fisher and Ricky Nelson.   I would also like to drive the car the James Dean had when he was killed in a car crash.  I would also like to go back to the 1950's because I would  discover the vaccine for polio. I would aslo witness the Soviet's release of  Sputnik.  That shows that us Americans can advance in technology.   The 1950's was considered the golden age by historians everywhere. I would love to go there if I had the chance.

This week in math class

I had a pretty exciting week in math. I was very fortunate to have math only twice this week. But those two days were exciting.
To some people, they wouldn't get why math class is so exciting. But if they stepped into my College Algebra class for one second, they would know .
This week started with a particualry unexciting event.  I got my math test back. To make a long story short, I flunked.  Another reason why math class was so exciting is that I get to talk to my friend Jess Smith.  We talk about every topic imaginable. Jess always talks about her hetic schedule.
My math teacher can tolerate our class-up to a point. On Tuesady, she kicked some kid named Steve out of her class.  That was easier on all of us.
On Thursday, my teacher taught the majority of the class. That was okay with us.  My class got through the math lesson, and then we were able to talk for the rest of the class. Jess and I talked about clothes and Jess' new UGGS.
The best part of the class was when Emily Blood read Justin's poem to the entire class. I thought the poem was funny.
Some people would complain about math class. But math was exciting for me this week.

Over the weekend

I don't have much to write about, so I'm going to write about what I'm doing this weekend.  After this class ends, I'm going to go home and hang out with my family. We are going to eat dinner and then watch some TV.  This is what I call casual Friday.  I know I'm such a geek for hanging out with my family, but that's what I do. On Saturday, my family and I are going out to lunch with my aunt and uncle.  I'm not sure what we are going to do afterwords.  Sunday will be the buisest day of my weekend. My mom, my sister, and I are going to church in the morning. Then we are going to the Galleria mall for some shopping. We are going to be there almost all day.  Because each of us has some Christmas presents left to buy, we are going to be on our own for most of the day.  Then there's lunch. The three of us will meet up again for lunch at the food court.  We will probably get food at Subway.  My mom will get her usual tuna sub, and I will get my usual flatbread.  After a long day of shopping, we head home.  Then it's off to our seperate desires. My mom will read. My sister will talk on the phone to her boyfriend. And I will watch a movie. This weekend, I will watch a movie called Decisions. Decisions is Corey Haim's last movie before his death in  March 2010.  And that is my weekend.

Flying vs. Driving

Wer'e back on the topic about what my friends are doing during the holidays.  In the last blog, I mentioned how two of my friends are going to Las Vegas.  One day during study hall, I was curious about  the flying and driving times to get to Las Vegas.

On Friday, I figured out how long it takes to fly from Buffalo to Las Vegas.  It is a short amount of time.  A direct flight is only 3 hours and 57 minutes. That is really suprising to me since Buffalo and Las Vegas is almost cross country.  There are at least 25 airports between Buffalo and Las Vegas. And stopping at one of these airports with a four hour layover takes much longer than 3 hours and 57 minutes. It could take a full DAY with layovers.  I'd rather have the direct flight.

On Monday, I figured out the driving time from Buffalo to Las Vegas. The total driving time is 1 day, 10 hours, and 22 minutes.  Driving takes SO much longer than flying for various reasons. There are constant stops such as the bathroom, fast food places, and hotels.  Traffic is another thing. One time, my family and I were coming back from South Carolina, and we were stuck in a slow down for 45 minutes. Or you could be stuck with a flat tire in the middle of nowhere. That is no fun.  All of these reasons delay the driving time. The good thing about driving is taking the senic route. But that has its problems, too.  The senic route is good only if there is an extra few days on hand.

If you ask me, I'd rather fly.  There isn't a bad thing about flying except the layovers. It's not that I hate driving,I don't. I just don't like the delays that come with driving.

I know I am boring everybody who is reading this, so I'm just going to end this blog.

Choice Blog

I don't have a speicfic name for this particular blog. I decided to write about what is going on during the holiday break. I am going to have my grandparents to stay with us for two days after Christmas.  They are going to sleep in my room, and I have to sleep on the floor in my sister's room. That is NOT fun.  Not with a capital N. The problem is that I don't sleep very well when I have to sleep on the floor.  I end up staring at the wall for half of the night. That is not very exciting. The other problem is that it is uncomfortable. It is hard to imagine being in an uncomfortable sleeping bag for one night.  Try dealing with two!  My grandparents are great, but how much of them can you take?   Uggh! I can't believe my mom ever agreed to this.

My friends, on the other hand, are going to have a much better holiday break than me. Some of my friends are going skiing.  Two of my friends are lucky enough to go to Las Vegas. I envy them so much!  Even my friends who are staying here are having more fun than me. A group of my friends are going to the movies to see the new Sherlock Holmes movie.

I have one last thing to say. I hope to survive by the end of holiday break.

Music

This blog is going to be hard for me to write because I don't really have a favoeririte genere of music. The truth is I like all types of music. There is a lot of different kinds of music that it is so hard to choose.  When I listen to rap music, I listen to such artists as Whiz Khalifa.  When I listen to classic rock, I listen to such artists as Queen, The Doors, Yes,  ACDC, and Led Zeplin.  When I  listen to country, I listen to Matina McBride and Faith Hill. Then there are the people from Glee. I like some of thier songs, and some of thier songs stink. I listen to a lot of artists in the pop genra.  I listen to Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, Celine Dion, and Ke$ha.  My grandparents sometimes has blues playing when I come over to my house.  I listen to classical when I'm at my grandmas. During the month of December, I listen to hoilday music.  You can now see why this blog was hard for me to write. There were lots of different music genres that it was hard to choose my favorite one.

Three Wishes

Writing about my three wishes is a hard task. To be honest, I want more than three things.  One wish I have is to eliminate war and unjust actions. The world has been at war for quite some time. In fact, we have been fighting for decades, hundreds of years, even.  9/11 was the most recent instance.  War is unfair. Once war is eliminated, there will be world peace.  I wish that I could talk to people that passed away.  I lost my grandpa when I was young, and I don't remember talking to him much. This also holds true to me in the acting industry. Some of the actors I like (Dominique Dunne, Heather O' Rourke, River Phoenix, Brittany Murphy, Corey Haim, David Strickland) died very young. I wish I could speak to them and tell them how much I liked thier work.  That would make me happy. I wish I could spend more time with my family. I am often busy with school, and I only spend time with them on the weekends. I enjoy my time with them.  Now that the holiday season is here, these wishes will come in handy for me. These are things that I wish for.

Everybody loves a good movie

Who doesn't? This holds true for absolutley everybody.  And everybody has favorites.  This holds true for me,too.

One of my favorite movies is The Goonies.  The Goonies was one of my favorites since childhood.  It is about two brothers, Mikey(Sean Astin)  and Brand Walsh (Josh Brolin), who are preparing to move because developers want to build a golf course in the place of their neighborhood--unless enough money is raised to stop the developers from building the golf course, but that is doubtful.  But Mikey and his friends Clark "Mouth" Devereaux,(Corey Feldman) Lawrence "Chunk" Cohen, Andrea "Andy" Carmichael (Kerri Green), Stefanie "Stef" Steinbrenner (Martha Plimpton), and Richard "Data" Wang, calling themselves The Goonies, find a pirate's fortune. They set out on thier mission, but they have to avoid major criminals, the Fratellis. This is one funny movie. It will keep your attenion until the very end.

Another one of my favorite movies is  Stand by Me.  Four friends, Gordie, Chris, Teddy, and Vern set out on an adventure to find the body of Ray Brower, who got recently got killed.  The stakes are upped when an older gang is also after the body.  It becomes a race to see who can recover the body first. There is a twist-so be prepared. Stand by Me is one of my favorites becuase it is a good coming of age story.  The acting is also off the charts. Corey Feldman (of Goonies and Gremlins fame) plays Teddy. The late great River Phoenix plays Chris. This is the best performance of Phoenix's career.  It is also the most remembered.

My last favorite movie is Despicable Me. The story is about a villan named Gru, who is a complete failure. He has a new plan-to steal the moon.  Gru delights in all things wicked.  Gru is armed with shrink rays and other wicked tools, until three orphans screw up his plan.  He bonds with the orphans who are Margo, Edith, and Agnes. Gru is seen as a potential dad. The funniest part of this movie is the failed attempts to trap the villian. But the minions steal the show. This is a funny movie for kids and adults alike.

Yes. This certainlty holds true for me.

Favorite book

My favorite book is Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney.  This book is about an eleven-year-old boy named Greg Heffley, who is starting middle school.  Greg is shorter than 90% of the kids his class, so he feels like a small fish in a big pond. His best friend is a boy named Rowley Jefferson.  Rowley doesn't always act his age,so Greg is sometimes offended by Rowley's actions. Greg and Rowley have gone through a lot together in this book. For instance, they are trick or treating on Halloween night.  They come across teenagers at 10:30 on Halloween night. Fortunatley for everyone, they make it back to Greg's house. Greg lives with his family, who are not the ideal crowd for a middle school student. Greg's older brother,Rodrick, is very lazy. Greg and Rodrick are supposed to do the dishes toghether, but Rodrick hides in the bathroom, and Greg finishes by the time Rodrick returns. His little brother,Manny,is spolied by his mom and dad.  Greg's parents don't make his life easier, either.  Greg's father is strict. He works a lot. Greg's mother is Miss Optomistic. She always has a postive outlook on life. Greg's mother is the funniest out of all the characters. I like this book because it is very funny. This book is also  illusrated with cartoons, and the cartoons are extra funny.  The word choice is interesting.  This book is for anybody who likes a good laugh.

Gremlins 2: The New Batch

This time, I am doing a followup on my article. Gremlins 2: The New Batch is the sequel to Gremlins.  It is five years later, and Billy moved to New York with his girlfriend Kate.  Billy wants to get a promotion, but his boss doesn't seem to care.  Meanwhile, Gizmo is stuck in a research lab.  Billy sneaks in and gets Gizmo out. Billy leaves Gizmo in his desk drawer while he has to take care of a couple of things, but Gizmo gets out anyway.  While out on his adventure, Gizmo gets sprayed with water. Suddenly, there are five new gremlins.  The gremlins except Gizmo get out of control because they ate after midnight.  They create havoc all over Billy's office building.  The gremlins get so mischevious that they try the potions in the research lab. One gremlin is referred as the "Brain Gremlin" because he is able to talk. In this movie, there is a girl gremlin. The girl gremlin kisses one of  Billy's co-workers.  Let's just say the gremlins think New York City is thier playground.  The gremlins still look very real. The scenes are  so much wilder than the first one.   Zach Galligan reprises his role as Billy. He is the body and soul of Gremlins 2.  The character of Billy's boss gets old after a while. He comes out as too silly. Tony Randall voices the brain gremlin. Randall sings  "New York, New York."  Once again, little Gizmo steals the show. This film just flies by, which tells you it's entertaining.

Thanksgiving Tradition

My family and I have  some Thanksgving traditions. Every year, it is the same thing.  My mom, my sister and I wake up around nine o' clock to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. When I was younger, my family and I had categories and we would vote for things like Best Balloon, Best Float, and my favorite-the celebrity category.  My favorite ballooon was always Clifford the Big Red dog.   My sister was really into Kermit the Frog when she was younger. So she would always vote for that one.  My sister and I always voted for the Build-a-Bear float.  Santa Claus and The Rockettes were the  clear winners in the celebrity category.  (Although, in past years, I have voted for the Jonas Brothers, Miranda Cosgrove, Corey Haim, and David Strickland.)  My dad gets up at 10:00 and showers.  ( He doesn't watch the parade.) Once the parade is over, we shower and get ready to go to my Aunt Nettie's house. My Aunt Nettie has two dogs, Russell and Magoo, and they get very excited.  We eat at 3:00. My favorite Thanksgiving food is mashed potatoes.   For dessert, we eat pumkin pie.I like spending Thanksgving with Aunt Nettie because I like spending time with family. Around 7:00, we leave. I'm in bed by 9:30.  Tradition is a value-especially when it comes to Thanksgiving.

My favorite hoilday

My favorite hoilday is Christmas. I like Christmas because it is a hoilday that really has a meaning behind it. It is a hoilday for giving instead of recieving.  I buy 2 to 3 presents for my family around the hoildays. I get my sister the same thing every year-lotion from Bath and Body.  I get my mom either lotion, shower gel, or a cute purse. My dad is the hardest family member to buy for. My dad likes tennis, so I would always buy him something tennis related.  Last year, I bought him a tennis ornament. My cousin the easiest member of my family to buy for.  We always get her a candle or a fuzzy throw blanket. Another eason why I like Christmas is decorating the Christmas tree.  My favorite part of that is putting on the ornaments.  My dad strings on the lights. I like how the tree lights up my dark living room.  Some Decemeber nights, I watch Christmas specials with my family.  Rudolph is a favorite along with  Charlie Brown.  I also like making cookies with my family. As you can see, Christmas is my favorite holiday.

Turtles

For my choice blog, I am going to write about one of my favorite animals- the turtle. Turtles are one of the best animals all around. They have such a nice shell. There are many different patterns on a turtle's shell. But the most common is a circular pattern. Turtles are also one of the best all around because there are two different types- land and sea. The land turtles are called tortises. They are the biggest type of turtle in the world. The biggest one of these are the Galapagos Tortise. They live on the Galapagos Islands. Then there are the regular turtle who also live on land.  One of the sea turtles are the loggerhead turtle. They live in the Gulf of Mexico and they depend on the Florida beaches as thier home.  Florida is also home to the the most endangered animal in the world-the Kemp's turtle. The green sea turtle also lives in Flordia as well as Australia. This turtle is also endangered. Each of these turtles are under the threat of extinction.  The other reason why I like turtles is because the baby turtles are so cute! Turtles are one of my favorite animals.

Mrs. Bibler

Mrs. Bibler goes way back to Intermediate School. She was my speech teacher from 3rd grade to 5th grade.  She helped me really understand vowels and constanats. I was  language impaired when I was younger because I often talked funny.  I confused c's with k's and m's with n's.  I never gave up when I was confused. I tried and tried even when the word sounded terribly wrong.   Mrs. Bibler knew I was trying, and I had to give her credit for that.  Mrs. Bibler and I often played fun speech games to help me. They helped me a lot.  I learned the word a lot faster than I did sounding it out.  then of course, we played games for fun. My favorite game was when we played with foam pizza trucks. The trucks went around the board until they stopped at one of the buildings around the board.  That was fun. When I left the Intermediate School, I was sad to leave Mrs.Bibler behind. But I will always keep her in my mind.  she was the person that inspired me in a postive way.

After Alden

After I graduate from Alden High School, I'd like to go to college.  There are some colleges I have in mind. I would like to go to UB, Medaille, or Buffalo State.  If it's possible, I would like to go to ECC for my first two years of college. This will help me on the college drift. Then, I would head off to Buffalo State for higher education. Of course, I would have to get a job. When I'm done with college, I would start off as a teacher's aide in an elementary school. I love kids, so I will enjoy working in this enviroment. I voulenteered at Vacation Bible School over the summer, and working with kids was what I really wanted to do. I knew somone named Mark Goddard, who works kids who have behavioral problems.  That would challenge me in  a way, but it is not my thing. Younger kids are perfectly fine. Elementary school kids are my favorite kids to work with because they are so much fun. And those are the kids that will still want to play with you. Eventually, I will get a job as a speech therapist.  When I get that job, I would like to move out of Alden. I know I know. Alden is boring after a while. So I'd like to go to someplace new. I would like to move to Virgina, North Carolina, or South Carolina. That will be an adventure for me.  I would like to live in a house with a pool and a hot tub. Once I leave, Alden will be very far away from my mind.

Favorite Class

Junior year is still young.  But I already have a favorite class.  My favorite class so far is English. I like having English 1st block because it is a nice way to start the day. Mr. Currin and Mrs. Gramza are hilarious.  They are the funniest teachers I ever had.  One day, Mrs. Gramza had us take a quiz and watch Bozo the clown. Bozo creeped me out, but Mrs. Gramza  rubbed it in our faces.  Then there's the Pledge of Allegiance.  When the National Anthem is over, Mr. Currin selects a pledge leader.   He usually says "Wes La Bar." or "Liz Russell." We would read very interesting short stories, and  they were always more exciting than essays. During the introduction of Farenheight 451,  we were in groups. My group was Scott Aldinger and Alyssia Schutt. We had a great webpage. Mr.Currin asked how we would act if our class was a reality show. We would act very different. Domeic Brotz would sing and make a complete fool of himself. I would be absolutley crazy. this is why I like English.

It's Fresh at Subway

Subway is my favorite resturant in Alden. I always go to Subway with my family.  My mom always orders the same thing every time- a tuna sub. My dad orders the cheapest thing on the menu and the healthiest.
My sister orders a flatbread with ranch dressing. She adds onions and chicken onto her flatbread. Like my dad, I also get the healthiest thing on the menu. I order a salad. I put on really healthy things on my salad like olives and green peppers. I also order bananna peppers on my salad, because they are my guilty pleasure, and I just have to have them every time I go to Subway.  My family also orders two large drinks and two bags of chips. My mom asks for a side order of pickles for the table to share.  What I like about Subway is that there are healthy choices. I also like that the salad is always fresh and the fact it doesn't taste like leaves in water. Now that is gross!  I also like that that there is more variety. Like I said before, I order a salad.  My aunt has also gotten a pizza there. I asked my aunt why she would get a pizza instead of a sub. She said to me that she perfers pizza over subs. As you can see, Subway is my favorite resturant in Alden

Jamey Rodemeyer Suicide

When I found out about the death of fourteen-year-old Jamey Rodemeyer, I was heartbroken.  I thought it was drastic how one can take thier own life due to bullying.  Jamey was bullied for more than a year because of gay slurs. I thought the article was rather powerful considering what had happened to Jamey.  I find that heartbreaking that people are bullied just because they are gay. People are just rude and horrible becasue they are bullying an innocent teenager. I never had any personal experince on this topic, but I do know being gay is not a bad thing.  It is hard for teenagers to express thier sexuality, especially high school students, and I can understand why Jamey was bullied.  He started getting bullied in middle school, and that is when we start finding out about who we really are as a person. Jamey already figured that out, and that's a good thing. I find that bullying is horrible, and it should be stopped at all causes. That is why I am glad that the goverment is taking action on bullying laws. When people take action, I am very happy that they do.  Bullying should be stopped at all causes.

Best Packed Lunch

The day I ususally bring lunch is Wednesday, and even then I make an effort to make a good lunch. I get up at 6:15 like I do on any other school day.  Then, I would go downstairs to make my lunch. I put my bread in the toaster, and then I get out the peanut butter and jelly. I lay the foil onto the the counter and wait for the bread to toast. When the toast is done, I put it on the foil. I spread the peanut butter on one slice of bread. Then I spread the jelly on the other. I put the slices of bread together, and the jelly oozes out of the sides of the bread.  I wrap my peanut butter and jelly sandwich in the foil. I get some chips out of my pantry and place them in a bag. I sometimes bring a snack bar if I feel like it. I usually bring an apple caramel snack bar because it is the kind I like the best. I sometimes go healty and pack vegetables in my lunch.  But the best part of lunch is everybody's favorite- the dessert. I sometimes pack Jello. My favorite kinds of Jello are strawberry and lime. Lime is the very best because it actually tastes like lime. I sometimes also pack cookies. The kind of cookies I uaually pack are homeade chocolate chip cookies. My grandma and I bake these cookies together, and they are the best. This is the best packed lunch.

Mary Poppins

For my choice blog, I decided to write about a timeless Disney classic, Mary Poppins.   This timeless classic is about a nanny named Mary Poppins( Julie Andrews) who flies in in her umbrella to take care of the Banks children (Karen Dotrice and Matthew Garber.)  An intresting thing is Mary Poppins and Mrs. Banks never actually speak to each other throught the film.  She comes to entertain the children, and they like her very much.  They meet a  magic man named Bert. ( Dick Van Dyke). And they enjoy the wonder of the magicial world. The best part has to be when Bert takes the kids into the sidewalk chalk drawings. There, they sing 'Jolly Holiday.' Another one of my favorite parts is when the kids ride the magic carousel. The sceneries and landscapes of London city are stunning when Mary Poppins is floating on the air on her umbrella.  It's easy to understand why Mary Poppins is such a beloved classic: its simplicity, its magic, its special/visual effects, its beautiful songs, its good morals, its charm, its characters, its classic humor, its combination of live-action and animation and great actors. The way how this combines live-action and animation is very good. Amazing for its time and keeps working out fine. A few years later, I wondered what happened to the little boy who played Michael Banks. I wanted to know what happened to him. I found out a couple days ago that Matthew Garber passed away very young.  Matthew Garber unknowingly contracted hepatitis while in India in 1976, and by the time his father was able to get him home to London several months later, the disease had spread to his pancreas and was untreatable.  He was 21 years old when he died of pancreatis.  Mary Poppins still remains magical today.

The Greatest Moment

The greatest moment of my life happend in my Earth Science Lab.  My lab partner was Scott Aldinger. We were working next to Elliott Biggs and Domenic Brotz. This lab was a  lab where there were timed trials, so Scott and I ended up talking to Elliott and Domenic anyway.  During this one trial, I asked Elliott if he's seen the movie, Rio Bravo.   Elliott said he had, and I wanted to know if the movie was any good. "Yes." Rats! I wanted to see that movie!  I asked him if we could watch it together sometime, and he responded with another "Yes."  During another trial, Elliott burped, and I started laughing. That was great!  Then, I got  bored.  The lab was getting old. And I mean very old.   So I turned to Domenic. "Have you seen Rio Bravo?" It's a Ricky Nelson movie."  Instead of answering with an unenthusatic "No," Domenic said "What else does he do?"  "Well, he sings." I replied. I started singing the chorus from 'I'm Walkin.'" "Oh." he said.  Elliott and Scott looked at us. "Does Ricky Nelson sing this song?" And he started singing 'Livin' La Vida Loca'.   I started laughing. Then Scott and Elliott started laughing.  And then the laughing evaporated. I was laughing so much that I didn't have the heart to tell  Domenic that he was singing a Ricky Martin song. And that was the greatest moment of my life.

All of the seasons

After thinking about it, I decided I don't really have a favorite season. Instead, I am going to tell you about each of the seasons and why I like them. What I like about winter is the first snow. It is always magical watching the falling snow.  But the only trouble is the snow gets boring after Christmas.  I obviously like Christmas. It is my favorite holiday of the year. I also like trimming the tree becuase I know Christmas is coming.  Another thing about winter is that we get hot chocolate all the time. I like the hot chocolate with all of the little marshmallows floating at the top.  Spring is the time where the snow melts and the rain comes crashing down.  Then in May, the flowers start to bloom.  When I was younger, I liked to pick flowers and give them to my mother. I would give them to her for Mother's Day.  Spring would linger on until June. In June, summer starts. School ends with nail biting exams and farewell parties.  After a long last day of school, summer vacation begins.  Carnivals roll into town, and exciting things happen. ( I kind of had to slap a friend for getting out of line.)  I like swimming whenever I can. The final season I'm discussing is fall.   The leaves change colors and fall onto the ground. When I was younger, I used to jump in the leaf piles with my friends. Then I would watch The Lost Boys and Poltergeist every Halloween. I also like to go on a hayride with my friends. This is why I don't have a favorite season.

Facebook

Fortuantley for me, I do not use Facebook. I guess the main reason for using Facebook is to keep touch with friends. But to me, Facebook is addicting, and once you start, there is no getting out of it. Facebook addiction causes you to be on Facebook every single moment of your day where you really could be doing something else.  Now isn't that a waste of time? It is also said that indivuals who use Facebook tend to get lower grades than students who don't.  There is also drama on Facebook. Usually, the Facebook drama shows when kids are not acting like themselves.  There is also something called Facebook depression.  People think depression is a distinct connection with the online site.  This in some ways is true to the online site. Another problem is cyberbullying. Young adults have taken thier lives over drama on Facebook. This has happened many times, and it's up to the point where cyberbullying needs to be adressed.  Facebook can be both good and bad. It depends on how you use it. The choice is yours.

Interests

Honestly, there are many things I feel comfortable writing about.  One of the things I am comfortable writing about is movies. I like to watch movies, and I have many favorites. My mom got me started on movies, and now I'm hooked.  I am also comfortable writing about holidays. Technically, I like writing about  Halloween and Christmas because they are the most interesting.  I like all of the fall carnivals because it leads up to Halloween. What I also  like about Halloween is the vampire movies. I never get tired of this one movie, The Lost Boys. Poltergeist is another good Halloween movie. It can be scary at times, but it's worth watching.   I like writing about the happenings in my English class. The people in my class are so nice. We are getting along great. I want to write about Hawaii. I have enjoyed the glamour of Hawaii through the TV show Hawaii Five-O. I  also love to write about animals. They are just so sweet! Writing about the top ten children's book characters is fun too. Rudolph is my favorite children's book character.  That is what I like to write about.

The Best School Year

I can remember many great years of school. 1st grade was fun. We played with Play-doh almost every day.  4th grade was even better.(That was the only year of Intermediate School I was fond with.) 6th grade was my first year of middle school. I didn't know where I was going the first day, and I couldn't open my locker.  In 7th grade, my friends and I were obsessed with The Jonas Brothers and The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. In 8th grade, I graduated from middle school. To be honest, I was quite sad, but I was ready to start new beginings in high school. 9th grade was my freshmen year. I got lost on my first day, and I couldn't open my locker. I also had the two toughest classes in the first sememster of my freshmen year- Algebra and Biology. ( I liked Bio.) But my favorite year had to be last year-sophomore year. My first semester included 3A-3C English. My friends Matt Shields, Krissy Tur, Jenna Snyder, Natalie Sciandra, Jason Bunk, Corey Barzykowski, and  Domenic Brotz were in my class. The laughs in that class were endless. My English teacher didn't like our constant talking and laughing. He often told us to stop, but the truth was, we had trouble. Another memory of that class was when we were reading To Kill A Mockingbird.  My friends and I were sitting on the windowsill.  ( We were too cool for desks.) One time, I was cold , so I used Matt's football sweatshirt as a blanket. ( Matt was being the best friend he was and let me use it.) My second semester was even better. I enjoyed every day of my second semester. But the best part had to be 4th block. I had Earth Science Lab and Gym every other day. My lab partner was often Scott Aldinger. But the best day was when Domenic Brotz sang "Livin La Vida Loca" WAY out of tune. Everyone in my class was laughing like hyenas.  THAT was a memory I will never forget. 10th grade was my best school year ever, and I will never ever  forget it.

Junior Year

This year is my junior year- a year where I'm hoping to accomplish many things. This year is tough because some of my classes are tough. This year I am taking English, US History, Psychology, Sociology, Online Publishing,  Gym, Environmental Science, and College Algebra. The class I am most concerned about is College Algebra.  I have always struggled in math, and I am afraid of failing. This is why I hope to pass my classes. I also hope to concentrate better in math because the people near me talk way too much. And I mean WAY too much! Because of this, my math class is more of a party. My next priority is to stay on task with the new schedule. With this new schedule, it is very easy to procrasinate. The new schedule will help me budget my time. I also hope to start looking for colleges. I am interested in looking at UB and Buffalo State.  I also want to get my permit this year. After I get my permit, I want to learn to drive. My mom or my dad will most likely teach me to drive. Then, I will schedule my road test in the summer. I hope to get a job over the summer. I want to work at Carbone's or Darien Lake. This is what I hope to accomplish this year.

What I did this summer

I had a good summer.  I went to the carnival. I met a few of my friends there. The stuff that happened at the carnival was interesting. One of my friends was acting up, and I  kind of  had to slap him. Then I ditched my friends, and met my friend Olivia. We went to meet our friend Nicole, and we ate a lot of food. Then, it was my birthday. I had a family party. (I like family parties better.) I volunteered at VBS at Saint John's church. This was my first year, and I had a really fun time. The highlight of my summer was when I went to a sunflower field with my family. ( We were at a farm.)  I enjoyed looking at all the sunflowers. Afterwords, we  got to see all of the animals at the farm. My favorite was this horse named Stanley.  He was big, and his head was always out of the stall. Then, we had a picnic And I went to the movies with my mom and my sister. I always get sad at the last week of summer, and this year was no exception. But the last Saturday of summer was so fun! I watched a two hour Disney movie. My sister and I made popcorn, and we watched another Disney movie, Finding Nemo. On the last Sunday of summer, I went shopping while my sister and her boyfriend sat by the wishing fountain. I met them at the Food Court. They sat while I ordered fries from a place in the Food Court.  My sister and I split the fries. They ignored me as I continued shopping. (That was fine with me.) I have to say I had a good summer.
